Time and place

The 12th International Conference on Smart Energy Systems takes place on 22-23 September 2026 in Aalborg. It is also possible to attend online. In-person attendees may also attend the conference dinner on 22 September, as well as the technical tours on 21 and 24 September. More information on tours will become available in April/May.


Conference fees

Early registration fee 1- 31 May 2026: 375 EUR for attendance in Aalborg and 275 EUR for online attendance.
Normal registration fee 1 June – 25 August 2026: 475 EUR for attendance in Aalborg and 375 EUR for online attendance.
Conference dinner: 110 EUR.
Prices include 25% VAT.

Online attendance means access to online conference platform, where you can watch all recorded presentations and communicate in writing with the presenters. There will not be any live streaming from the conference in Aalborg.


Registration

Registration will be possible in the period from 1 May to 25 August 2026. All registrations are binding, including registrations for conference, conference dinner and technical tours. 

Information on online and in-person attendance 

We offer both speakers and audience the options of attending the conference either in person in Aalborg or online. All presentations will be recorded and will be accessible online to registered attendees in the period 18-25 September 2026. You will not be able to follow the conference live; but you will have access to all recorded presentations and can communicate in writing with all session presenters.
 
If force majeure should make it impossible to host the conference in Aalborg, the organisers reserve the right to switch to a strictly virtual event. In this case, the 100 EUR difference between online and in-person registration fees will be refunded to all who have registered for attendance in Aalborg by 25 August 2026. Registrations for conference dinner and technical tours made before 25 August 2026 will also be refunded in the case of cancellations on behalf of the organisers.
 
1 August 2026 is the deadline for switching between in-person and online attendance. If you switch from in-person to online attendance, the 100 EUR difference between the fees will be refunded. If you switch from online to in-person attendance, you will be charged the 100 EUR difference. There is no additional charge for switching. Please, notify us by email to Sesconference@plan.aau.dk no later than 1 August if you wish to switch between online and in-person attendance.  


Changes made after 1 August 2026 will not lead to any refund.

Hotels

We recommend that you book your stay as early as possible. Bookings are made on a first come, first served basis.

Online Conference Platform

On 18 September 2026, all conference attendees (both in-person and online attendees) will receive detailed information on access to the conference platform.

The online conference platform will be accessible on 18-25 September 2026. On the platform, you can find a recording of the keynote speeches, all pre-recorded presentations and slides, as well as the Book of Abstracts with detailed information. These will be available to all attendees no matter whether attending online or in person.


Best Presentation Awards

Via the online conference platform, you can also nominate candidates for the Best Presentation Awards. Two winners will be announced during the closing ceremony. The Best Presentation Award includes a prize of 1000 EUR, sponsored by Kamstrup and LOGSTOR-Kingspan.
